Decks in Upstate South Carolina

New decks, rebuilds and repairs, built by a family business since 1992.

A good deck adds living space you'll use every season. We build new decks and rebuild worn-out ones for homes from Lake Keowee to Spartanburg.

The short answer

Cannady Construction is a family-owned deck builder based in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. We build new decks and rebuild and repair old ones on homes across Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Pickens and Laurens counties.

We build the footings, posts and frame to last, then add the decking, railings and stairs in the materials you choose. If your deck is worn but the frame is sound, we can often replace just the boards and railings.

When you call, you talk to an owner. We come out, measure the space, and give you a free estimate.

What we build

Decks, railings and stairs

We'll help you plan the size, shape and materials around how you want to use the space.

Pressure-treated wood

The most affordable choice. It's strong and familiar, and it needs sealing or staining every few years.

Composite decking

Costs more up front but won't rot or splinter and never needs staining. It comes in many wood-look colors.

Railings

Wood, composite or metal railings, built to the height and spacing the building code requires.

Stairs and landings

Stairs down to the yard or patio, with landings and handrails where they're needed.

Rebuilds and resurfacing

New boards and railings on a sound frame, or a full tear-out and rebuild when the frame is worn out.

Repairs

Loose boards, wobbly railings, rotten posts and failing stairs fixed before they become a safety problem.

When to repair or replace

Signs your deck needs work

  • Soft, cracked or rotting boards
  • Railings that wobble or feel loose
  • Posts rotting at the bottom, or a deck that sways
  • Rusty nails, screws or brackets
  • A gap where the deck meets the house
  • Stairs that bounce or feel uneven

A loose railing or a soft spot near the house can be a safety problem. If you see one, call us and we'll come take a look.

Cost

What affects the price of a deck

Every house is different, so we price each job after we see it. These are the things that move the number most.

Size and height

Bigger decks cost more, and decks high off the ground need taller posts and more bracing.

Material

Pressure-treated wood costs the least. Composite costs more but saves on upkeep.

Railings and stairs

Railings and stairs are a big part of the price, especially metal railings.

Removing the old deck

Tearing out and hauling away an old deck adds to the job.

Questions

Deck questions we hear most

Should I choose wood or composite?

Pressure-treated wood costs less up front but needs sealing or staining every few years. Composite costs more but needs little more than washing. We'll help you weigh the two for your budget and how much upkeep you want.

Do I need a permit for a deck?

Most new decks in Upstate cities and counties need a building permit. Owners to confirm whether they get the permit

How long does a deck last?

A well-built pressure-treated deck usually lasts 15 to 20 years with regular sealing. A composite deck on a sound frame can last 25 years or more.

Can you repair my deck instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. If the posts and frame are solid, we can replace the boards, railings and stairs and make the deck look new for less than a full rebuild.

What areas do you serve?

Anderson, Belton, Clemson, Clinton, Easley, Fountain Inn, Greenville, Greer, Lake Keowee, Laurens, Mauldin, Pendleton, Pickens, Simpsonville, Spartanburg and Travelers Rest. If your town is nearby and not listed, call us.

Are estimates free?

Yes. We come out, look at the job and give you a price at no cost.
