Siding in Upstate South Carolina

Siding installation and replacement, done by a family that started with siding.

We began in 1992 as Cannady's Siding & Gutters. Siding is still the heart of what we do, for homeowners and builders from Lake Keowee to Spartanburg.

The short answer

Cannady Construction is a family-owned siding contractor based in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. We install new siding and replace old siding on homes across Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Pickens and Laurens counties.

Most of our siding work is whole-house replacement: we take off the old siding, check and repair the wall underneath, and install new siding with matching trim, soffit and fascia. We also side new homes for builders, from custom houses to apartment communities.

When you call, you talk to an owner. We come out, look at the house, measure, and give you a free estimate.

What we install

Siding styles and materials

The right siding depends on the look you want, your budget and how much upkeep you're willing to do. We'll walk you through the options at your house.

Vinyl siding

The most common choice in the Upstate. It costs the least to install, never needs painting and comes in many colors and profiles.

Fiber cement siding

Heavier and more rigid than vinyl, with a look closer to painted wood. It stands up well to heat, storms and pests, and it can be repainted.

Board and batten

Tall vertical boards with narrow strips over the seams. It's the farmhouse look you see on many new Upstate homes, and it comes in vinyl or fiber cement.

Lap siding

Classic horizontal boards. It's the traditional look for most homes, and it's available in several board widths.

Shakes and accents

Shingle-style panels for gables, dormers and porches. They pair with lap or board and batten to add texture.

Soffit, fascia and trim

The parts under the roof edge and around windows and doors. We replace or wrap them with the siding so the whole house matches and stays sealed.

When to replace

Signs your siding needs attention

  • Cracked, warped or loose boards, especially after a storm
  • Soft spots, rot or mold on or behind the siding
  • Paint that peels or fades within a few years
  • Higher heating and cooling bills, or drafts near outside walls
  • Stains or water marks on inside walls
  • You're selling, or you want the house to look new again

If you're not sure, call us. We'll tell you honestly whether a repair will do or the whole house needs new siding.

Cost

What affects the price of new siding

Every house is different, so we price each job after we see it. These are the things that move the number most.

Size of the house

Siding is priced by the amount of wall it covers. More stories and more wall mean more material and labor.

Material

Vinyl costs less than fiber cement. Premium profiles, thicker panels and specialty colors cost more.

Removing the old siding

Taking off old siding, and repairing any rot we find underneath, adds to the job.

Trim and details

Gables, dormers, porches and lots of windows mean more cutting and trim work.

How a siding job works

From the first call to cleanup

  1. We look at the house

An owner comes out, measures every wall and talks through styles and colors with you.

  2. You get a free estimate

We tell you what it will cost and when we can start. The estimate costs you nothing.

  3. We install and clean up

We remove the old siding, fix what's underneath, install the new siding and trim, and haul everything away.

Questions

Siding questions we hear most

Do you install siding on new construction?

Yes. Builders and developers bring us in on custom homes and on larger projects such as apartment communities.

Should I choose vinyl or fiber cement?

Vinyl costs less and never needs painting. Fiber cement costs more but is sturdier and looks closer to painted wood. We'll help you weigh the two for your house and budget.

Can you replace just part of the siding?

Often, yes. If the damage is in one area and we can match the existing siding, a repair may be all you need. If the siding is old or discontinued, a full replacement usually looks better.

Do you replace gutters at the same time?

We can. We started as Cannady's Siding & Gutters, and doing both together means one crew and one schedule. See gutters.

What areas do you serve?

Anderson, Belton, Clemson, Clinton, Easley, Fountain Inn, Greenville, Greer, Lake Keowee, Laurens, Mauldin, Pendleton, Pickens, Simpsonville, Spartanburg and Travelers Rest. If your town is nearby and not listed, call us.

Are estimates free?

Yes. We come out, look at the job and give you a price at no cost.
